Description:

Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Intermittent Indicates the powertrain control module (PCM) detected an error in the vehicle speed information. Vehicle speed data is received from either the vehicle speed sensor (VSS), transfer case speed sensor (TCSS), anti-lock brake system (ABS) control module, generic electronic module (GEM), or central timer module (CTM). This DTC is set the same way as C3969. However, it is intended to flash the transmission control indicator lamp (TCIL) for first time VSS circuit error/malfunctions. Diagnosis And Repairing C3969

C3969 OBD 2 code on vehicles with electronically controlled automatic transmissions, the 3-4 shift solenoid is responsible for actuating the hydraulic circuits to activate clutches or bands that change gears inside the automatic transmission.

How to fix C3969 code ?

See C3969 repair manual
  • Clogged or faulty fuel injector (s)
  • Camshaft Position Sensor harness is open or shorted
  • Variable Camshaft Timing solenoid stuck open

To check for an open circuit, trace along the length of the transmission control circuit, checking for breaks in the wiring. Repair any broken wiring and make sure all connectors are fully seated and locked.

Pay close attention to connectors, looking for corrosion, bent or broken pins, or moisture in the connector. Repair any connector issues even if they are not specifically part of the transmission control circuit as they may serve a function in providing power to the transmission control circuit.
